I have often thought how different their world was from ours. I have tried to imagine what it must have been like to hear no sounds but those made by my own small group or the wind rain or water. Human consciousness must have been quite a bit different from what it now is. The most successful time to make this kind of practice fit into the life I have found is upon waking. At that time the mind has been flushed clean with dreams and is receptive and open. This is a good way to pursue a spiritual practice.
