Berries for the Bear

Woohoo, new plants for the Canyon! Thanks to a small grant from the Fish & Wildlife people, I just purchased some new native plants to reintroduce to our riparian areas. Now, if you live in the NW you might think my choices a bit funny, but you have to remember that I’m working to restore a drastically overgrazed area to some kind of ecostasis. While the land has recovered amazingly, full of Alders, Cottonwoods, Willows, Maples and Canyon Walnuts we’re still missing some important wildlife (and people) foraging species. So today, I bought some Blackberries, Raspberries, Thimbleberries, Elderberries and a few Yerba Mansa plants. They should be here by the end of the week.
