I buy dried elderberry 'berries' the 'nigra'black ones, and then I wash them and then soak them in a glass jar with brandy only for 2 months, then I strain the berries and pour the dark purplish elixir into a glass bottle. Then use 1/2 teaspoon in 250ml of water each day. Recently I was told that I should be cooking the berries first? Something about toxins / poison like arsenic? Does anyone know if this is true?
